North Park Tennis Club members, coaches, contractors and supporters braved freezing conditions on Monday 30th May 2016 to enjoy a celebratory BBQ to welcome in the new era of lighting at the Club. Around 50 people including VIPS: Robert McDonald, NSNTA Chairman Match & Permit Committee; Gary Clark, President, Tennis Victoria and Zoe Plastow, Participation Leader, Metro Central for Tennis Victoria witnessed the NSNTA's official testing of our wattage. The results confirmed North Park's lights now exceed the Association's lighting requirements by over 100%.
Tennis Victoria President; Gary Clark, and NPTC President, Colman Moloney then cut the ribbon as the new LED light fixtures were switched on by our project manager Vince Micallef. In his speech, Gary thanked the President and Committee for their efforts in taking on the challenge of adopting the latest technologies in lighting as well as other online initiatives to open up the courts to the tennis loving public.
The lighting project was the result of collaboration amongst the Melbourne City Council, Tennis Victoria and North Park Tennis Club to support the community with access to courts and facilities as well as for formal competitions.
